Goodbye New York

The gorgeous view of the Brooklyn Bridge right by our studio!

View from Fulton Ferry Park of the Brooklyn Bridge-two blocks from our studio!

York Street subway station back to and from the studio

Our studios!

Our well equipped studio managed wonderfully by Al
Our program director. She is the greatest!
Goodbye New York.  We will miss our amazing program director, our studios, the York street subway, the views of the Manhattan Bridge, the smell of the shake shack walking past Madison Square park, the bagel shop next to our place in Manhattan, spontaneous art, Central Park, getting lost, and constant wandering. We love you and we will miss you!

Last Dinner

Don't worry that is not a lightning in the house--one of the students Conor--who grew up in NY--invited us over to have dinner at his home. It was a lovely evening with delicious food and great company. It was the perfect way to spend the last evening together. What a fantastic group this was. Everyone will be greatly missed!

We had a fantastic turn out at the open studio. Artists Janet Zweig, Heide Hatry, Al Lupiani, and gallery director George Adams, friends and family came. The students got individual critiques by Heide and George. And some of the students sold their work! It was a wonderful evening!

Presentation Day

Students discussing their research in New York. We learned fascinating things about Indian Point Nuclear Plant in NY, the grid system, sex culture of NY,  the history and the stories of changes and gentrification in NY, and ideas of utopia and distopia.

A Day at Chelsea-George Adams Gallery

Walking through the Highline listening to the Sound Art Installation

We had the wonderful opportunity to meet the generous and charming George Adams from the George Adams Gallery in Chelsea. The gallery is currently having an exhibition of the artists Robert Arneson, Joan Brown, Roy DeForest, Peter Saul, and William T. Wiley. While meeting with George Adams, he  gave us advice and shared great stories with us of his experience of being a gallery owner. Afterwards, we walked through the renovated High Line Park.
